What is Sustainability?

The concept of sustainability was defined in the report named “Our Common Future” published by the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) in 1987 and took its place in the literature. The definition of sustainability in the report: “Humanity has the ability to make development sustainable to ensure that it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Sustainability is not just a concept related to the environment. It is a holistic concept that combines ecological, economic and social dimensions.

It is necessary to create a balance between nature and people to ensure sustainability. Our life depends on natural resources. We all know that these natural resources are limited. Therefore, we need to think about our individual and social responsibilities.

Companies and enterprises that focus on sustainability draw attention with their recent works.
